CORSAIR Comics

As the Social Media Content Manager at Corsair, I lead the development and writing of a comic series to promote Corsair products and increase fan engagement with our targeted demographic. Management had their initial doubts about the project, but the comics resonated and become a viral success.

One of our viral hits, that’s hit the top of reddit multiple times since posting.

Performance

The comic did amazingly well on platforms like reddit, earning millions of organic engagement as it made it to the front page of the platform multiple times. However due to the way reddit works, analytics of that are not available. However on other platforms we posted to, you can see it did very well:

These are the metrics for the comics posted to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, where the comic was able to receive a total of 29.71 million impressions with a calculated value of $220,780.

“But how will we brand it?”

This was the question I was asked the most by management when I came to them with my plan. It was a silly question, but to be fair, no one in the gaming hardware space was doing anything like this.

In the gallery below, you can see the evolution and growth of the series, as we modeled the main character off the PCMR mascot, who until then, never had a voice. We were able to give him a personality and style that grew through each issue.

As for the branding, that was easy. We just ended up featuring Corsair products in every issue, sometimes personifying them.

Credit Where It’s Due

I take a lot of pride in the comic, but I could not have done it alone. There were many people who chimed in when it came to initial ideas at Corsair, the two that stand out are Bijan Mousavi, a long time writing partner of mine, and Chris Stolze, who’s PC hardware knowledge was invaluable.

Most importantly, the art was done by Tim Fangon, and the comic simply wouldn’t be possible without him. Above you can see what the comics looked before Tim, during the storyboarding process which I drew as the lead writer and creative director behind the project.
